Below you will find our tips for going green in your neighborhood:

1. Educate yourself on how "green" your vehicle is. Check out this U.S. EPA Green Vehicle Guide and see how your vehicle scores!

2. Smart driving. Fuel efficiency generally decreases at 55 mph and above. For example, studies suggest that drivers who normally travel 70 mph on the expressway could save 5 mpg if they decreased their speed to 60 mph. Over time, that savings will add up, especially if used in combination with other fuel savings measures.

3. Keep your vehicle maintained. By simply maintaining air pressure in your tires your gas mileage will improve by 3%. Also, by keeping your spark plugs and air filter in tip-top shape - in addition to your oil changed and transmission fluid topped off - drivers may save up to 150 gallons of gas per year.

4. Consider your travel route and carpooling. By consolidating trips, choosing the most fuel efficient routes, and carpooling whenever possible, you will save money.

5. Consider alternative transportation. By riding your bike or using the bus, you will save yourself money and maintenance on your vehicle. Check out TARTA to see if public transportation is right for you. Also, hop over to map my ride to find bike trails in the Toledo area.
