Native Plants

Native plants are those plants that grew naturally in a specific region before settlement. Examples of local native plants include species such as wild lupine and butterfly milkweed. The native plants used in Living Green, Saving Green were provided by Naturally Native Nursery and the Rain Garden Initiative.

So what are the advantages of gardening with native plants? Well, they are well-adapted to our soils and climate, requiring little water or maintenance. They are also perennial - that is - they come back year after year and save on landscaping costs. Last, native plants attract butterflies and other pollinators to your garden.
