The Green Job Corp has been installing homeowner rain gardens on Maywood Avenue in Toledo the past couple days. This project is part of a larger grant obtained by the City of Toledo to use green infrastructure to retrofit an entire City street. Project partners include a number of organizations, including Toledo GROWS, Lucas County Juvenile Justice, City of Toledo, Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District, and American Rivers. TARTA was awarded the largest investment by ODOT's Clean and Green Transit Program yesterday. The funding will enable TARTA to purchase eight new 40-foot diesel-electric hybrid buses. For the complete press release, click here.

There is a new interactive map of all LEED certified buildings in the Toledo area. This was put together by the Sustainability Commission along with members of the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council and local architects. You can check it out here. Lucas County was recently awarded nearly one million dollars to improve the energy efficiency of County facilities. The dollars were awarded through the Ohio Department of Development federal Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Program. For the official press release, please click here.

On Thursday, March 12th, at 2:00pm the Toledo-Lucas County Plan Commissions will hold a public hearing on a text amendment regarding green infrastructure for stormwater management. The hearing will be help at One Government Center at Jackson Boulevard and Erie Street in Council Chambers.
